Understanding Neurodivergent Strengths
Each type of neurodivergence comes with its own blend of traits—and within them, remarkable strengths:
ADHD: Known for high energy, creative thinking, bold ideas, and quick problem-solving. Many people with ADHD thrive in fast-paced environments where flexibility and innovation are valued.
Autism: Common strengths include deep focus, attention to detail, strong memory, and logical reasoning. Many autistic people also display intense honesty and reliability.
Dyslexia: While literacy may be a challenge, dyslexic individuals often excel in big-picture thinking, visual-spatial reasoning, and originality—skills sought after in design, engineering, and entrepreneurship.
Real-life example: Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin Group, has dyslexia. Temple Grandin, an expert in animal science and autism advocate, is autistic. Their success wasn’t about “overcoming” who they are—it was about leaning into it.
